Moist heat packs held in a heated water bath and applied wrapped in towelling. They hold heat long enough to warm tissue through a full application rather than cooling within a few minutes.

Moist heat is used before mobilisation, stretching and exercise, and for the general relief of muscle tightness. Packs are always applied through layers of towelling, never directly against skin. They are replaced when the filling no longer distributes evenly or the cover has degraded, since an uneven pack heats unevenly.
